Overview
RS is one of the most important subjects on our curriculum. It teaches respect and tolerance in our multicultural, multifaith society as it forges an understanding of the belief systems of the major faiths in the world: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism . It introduces students to philosophical questions and encourages debate and discussion on issues such as morality, death and poverty. Students are invited to question their own beliefs and moral principles to gain a greater understanding of what makes them who they are.
Facilities
RS is taught in the Humanities rooms with thought provoking displays and material to stimulate discussion and debate.
Key Stage 3
Students learn about the world’s major religions and begin to debate some of the great philosophical and moral issues of our time.
Key Stage 4
Students choose whether or not to continue with RS at GCSE level. For those who do not want to take the subject as an exam option, there is still a requirement for them to receive some religious education. At Grey Court this takes the form of assemblies, dedicated off-timetable sessions and cross curricular exercises exploring concepts of belief, values and diversity.
For students taking the subject at GCSE level there is a focus on Islam and Christianity.
