Sixth Form Press Release – Grey Court School 2020

Grey Court Sixth Form has once again reported an impressive set of  results for its era defining cohort.  In a volatile and uncertain educational landscape the school’s historic strong performance has meant that the class of 2020 has largely withstood the buffeting of the slings and arrows of a depersonalised government algorithm.

With careers in medicine and scientific fields being particularly prescient, Angel Rowlett and Joshua Bonifacio have gained places on Medical courses at Nottingham and Imperial.  A student who had benefited from the school’s medical programme since Year 7, Angel Rowlett commented that she was determined to follow in the footsteps of previous Grey Court medical graduates whose personal statements had “inspired her” in Year 12.  “I am delighted to be reading medicine at  Nottingham and can’t wait to get started and eventually contribute to our wonderful NHS which has served us so well in the current pandemic.”

The school’s impressive tradition of successful Oxbridge applications also continued with Eric Williams gaining a place at Cambridge to read History and Leah O’Grady reading Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford’s Sommerville college.  BTEC courses once again tabled excellent results with both Alexandra James gaining a place on a Sports and Exercise  Science course at Durham on account of her outstanding performance in our Sports BTEC course.

Headteacher, Christopher Rhodes, commended the Year 13 cohort on the “resilience, fortitude and creativity” they had demonstrated since the unprecedented cancellation of this year’s examinations. The level of independence and proativity shown by the students has been remarkable and will continue to serve them well in whatever awaits them as they continue their educational journey.”
