A student arriving to registration after 8.30 should be marked as late. A late register is taken at the gate for any students arriving between 8.30 and 8.45; students should then go straight to registration. The Attendance Officer cross checks the late register against the form register.
Students arriving after 8.45 must sign in at the Attendance Office, they will be given a green late slip which should be shown to their lesson tutor.
The Attendance Officer sends both a daily and a weekly ‘Late Report’ to the Phase Leaders so that this can be followed by an afternoon call back and a detention for 2 or more lates during a weekly period.
Parents should report all student absences by 9am on each day of absence; they should inform the academy the reason for absence and day of expected return. Absence messages can either be left on the Absence Line by selecting option one at the main switchboard 0208 948 1173 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Parents can also respond via the truancy call.
Tutors should encourage students to tell parents to call in on the first day of absence.
The Attendance Officer will code the registers accordingly adding a note on the student’s record as to the reason for the absence this is very important as it assists the Student Support Officers and Education Welfare Officer when monitoring absences.
